The Nine Rooms of Happiness is the first book we’ve written. In a million years, we never dreamed we'd write a book about happiness (neither one of us felt that a simple book could help make all women happy!) but as we developed greater understanding about what makes women (and ourselves) happier, we realized there are ways to make this complex subject accessible in a practical way. We don’t have THE key to happiness. But we do spend our days hearing from women, through emails, blog comments and surveys at Self.com, and in Catherine’s practice. We hear what makes women happy and what brings them down. Generally it’s the little things that can sabotage our otherwise happy lives.

We felt driven to write this book because we kept hearing the same worries, laments, stressors, and also joys day after day, month after month. Mostly women find that we repeat the same patterns over and over, and there are valid reasons we get stuck. Thankfully, there are ways to get un-stuck, if you know how! This new book, our two blogs, and the users on this website, will offer women new ways to think about what brings you down, when most things in your life are going well. And we offer practical solutions to the problems that are universal to women—relationships, friendships, family, work/money stress, time crunch and work/life balance, body image and health, personal fulfillment, finding your purpose and the search for a meaningful life. We have some strategies to help you, but what's really going to make this website interesting is YOU. So write in! Join the discussion in each room. We will be there, every step of the way, in your journey toward a happier life. We look forward to hearing what’s on your mind.
