Love, Purpose, and Life's Little Imperfections > Work and weight...

Since I've started working at my job, I've been so stressed. It's not just the regular stress that comes with having a job, it's my boss being a jerk and hassling me all day, not working enough hours to pay bills, and hating coming to work everyday... I've actually considered calling in several times, but I don't, because I need the money to pay bills! >.<

Another issue I have is my weight... It seems like no matter what I do, it won't come off... I'm exercising daily, and eating healthy, balanced meals... Maybe it's the stress, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but being overweight (and not just by my standards, I'm a whopping 346) isn't something I want for myself! Please help...

Sounds like you have lots of stress - in your emotional office and bathroom! First, the office...you may not be loving your job and finding purpose and meaning there, but it does earn you a paycheck and that's clearly important. However the issues with your boss don't sound good. Think about what you might be doing to participate in this dynamic...are there things you can identify that contribute to your getting hassled, like not getting the work done on time? or can you be proactive and not reactive to this boss's complaints? or are you taking things personally when this is how your boss treats everyone? If you think of the relationship equation: A + B = C, then you'll remember that you have the power to impact your experience at the office...NOT by changing your boss and his/her attitude directly, but by changing your own behavior. And if you can figure out how to improve your office life, you may find that taking better care of yourself outside the office is easier. Though losing weight is rarely easy, you may be stress eating, to soothe the distress caused by work. If you can figure out what's happening at the job, you may clear some emotional space to really address your weight concerns in earnest. But be kind to yourself in the bathroom while you're trying to improve the office - since you can't do everything at once! You may actually have to close the bathroom door (and put those issues aside) until you get things squared away at the office. But when you are more content at work, I'm hoping you'll find your way to losing the weight you want.

I would suggest finding a workout buddy or group. They can possibly help motivate you. I find that when the stress of work gets to me, I work out harder and that helps me feel better. If you get on a good track with working out, it might help reduce your stress at work. I joined a running group and organized soccer team. It helped a ton! Best of luck!
