The truth is we all evolve. What do you find joy in? What brings a smile to your face? These days we all can expand our job duties (since fewer people are now doing the work of many) and most times our employers welcome the offer to step up.
Love mentoring? Start doing more at work or in volunteer programs. Coaching, teaching helping others, it's all so rewarding and there are many arenas where those skills are needed, now more than ever.
Or if isolation and writing, painting, music or other creative arts are the thing you crave, carve out time to get to a studio space or your own nook and put pen or paint brush to paper and just star. People often ask me: how do you become a writer? I say: first, write. Then figure out what it is you like writing and get better at it, through feedback, extension courses or just practice.
I love to compete in triathlons, I love to be outdoors, I love to help other women be their all around personal best and find their passion, purpose and meaning in their life. So I ride and write, I edit and speak and I try to help others feel the inspiration that I feel in doing what I love. The key process for me is to get to my tenth room, to evolve, to go (along with the status quo) or grow. I choose to grow, to take risks and to make myself do things that are scary or take me out of my comfort zone. That's how I evolve, grow and find the next great joy. It could work for you.
Spend a little time in the tenth room, thinking about what brings you happiness now and then just go do it. Don't worry what others will think or say or how well or badly you do it. Chances are you'll get better at it and then you'll be the inspiration for them. And they will ask you: how did you do that? How did you change? How can I?
