Happier After 50!
Friday, May 28, 2010 at 3:59PM Catherine appeared on the Today Show this week to discuss a new study that said, you are happier in your later years than you were in the middle ... in fact the arc of happiness looks a little like a U shaped graph (or a smile!) since younger people, in their school years, through the end of college, are fairly care free, and then the stress of adult life comes to bear: money and income and career and family, the question of how to juggle it all becomes so intense that some women forget to really enjoy their 30s and 40s! Then when you are a bit older, like at 50, the uptick starts and the happiness graph moves up again, until in your 70s you are fairly happy, despite the idea that getting older is grim because of illness or loss of loved ones. You literally forget the bad things and remember the good. You stop sweating the small stuff. You appreciate your days. Your accumulated years of wisdom and emotional intelligence pay off. Here is the link... We think that if you could know now what you learned by then, you'd be happier, this very day.
